Basar Delux!

It's time for the last edition of Basar - the little design market I have been taking part in a couple of times the last two years. This one will of course be a Christmas market, taking place this Sunday at Storgatan 3 here in Gothenburg. More and updated info here. You can also find out more about all the goods and vendors on our Tumblr. There will be loads of good stuff for sure! Remember, this is the Deluxe edition… The Basar lineup this last time includes Le Kiosk, Winterbird Co., For Good Luck, Birgit & Benny, studio esinam, Emma von Brömssen and more. Gosh, it will be good.

And like always, you'll find Bergslagsgatan at the same stand as Up the Wooden Hills!

I will bring nothing less than the famous Granliden Mittens. Since this summer, I have been knitting a lot while not attending to my webshop too much. Time for a change! Right after Basar I'm doing a serious update, and there will be mittens in a range of colourways just in time for Christmas. I will keep you posted about the update through Instagram.

Post-basar report

The Basar was quite a success! People "broke" in ten minutes before the official starting time, and from then and for 3 hours ahead the space was completely jam-packed!

I sold mittens, vintage clothes, prints and zines and barely had time to take a sip of tea in between. I enjoyed it enormously! It's always so much fun to meet all you people, with your  sweet compliments and pep talk. Knitting and studio work can sometimes be a little lonely, so I really need to get out there every once in a while.

And once again, Bergslagsgatan teamed up with Up the Wooden Hills, sharing a stand. Our things go very well together, both in concept and colour scheme :) 

I will tell you more about the vintage part of this soon. It's an idea I'm testing - a way of expanding my webshop...

The first month of summer

May is my favourite month of the year. According to an old Swedish saying, the time between the blossoming of the bird cherry and that of the lilac is the time to go on holiday. So I did.

As a fairly new resident of Gothenburg, I have taken some time to explore the nearby area of Majorna - my current favourite part of town, with old wooden buildings and lots of green. The photos above are from the annual "Mega-Loppis" - that one Saturday in May when the whole neighbourhood turns into a giant second hand market!

Now, it's time to leave town for the summer.

I think I would say Basar was a success.

People stood up to the cold, cold rain and came to browse through the stands of vintage and handmade goods. Thank you all! We had a really nice time. And the sun actually came out occasionally.

The Bergslagsgatan/Up the Wooden Hills stand was a good idea, the mix of hand sewn/knitted textile products in fine materials, and the paper goods. Thank you for a good day, Lisa!

Some of the other exhibitors were Once Upon a Time, Anïve for the Minors, Camilla Broyn, Plingsulli, WinterbirdCo., bib and Drömma - who hosted the whole event in her courtyard.

There will most likely be another Basar in the autumn, so if you missed this one, you get a new chance!

Basar!

Tomorrow I will be one of the vendors of Basar, a brand new vintage and design market taking place in a cosy courtyard here in Gothenburg - initiated by Lotta Lundberg of Drömma. 

I'm bringing no less than the 22 pairs of Granliden Mittens I have knitted this past winter - at the very neat price of 33€! Let's call it a late season sale... There will also be the remaining copies of the first edition of the Last Girl in the Woods zine (more to come), as well as some of my prints. So if in town, come by Karl Gustavsgatan 19 and say hi, browse through loads of lovely stuff and have a glass of bubbly!

Oh, and there is another design market happening tomorrow, just a few blocks away from us - á la London at Pustervik. Walking distance.

Palm trees, camellias and Swedish afternoon winter light go so very beautifully together.

Palmhuset, located in central Gothenburg, is one of my favourite spots.
